Most sunsets are watched from a distance. "Tall Grass at Dusk" puts you inside the moment, low to the ground, looking out through the grass as the last light bleeds from the sky. The perspective is intimate in a way wide landscape art rarely achieves.

The composition works in two layers. In the foreground, dry savanna grass rises as a dense silhouette, individual stalks and seed heads crisply outlined, their organic forms framing the middle of the piece. Behind them, the sky takes over completely. Amber and burnt gold sit heavy at the horizon, shifting through sienna and copper before cooling into deep indigo at the top of the frame.

The sun itself is absent. No disc, no hard light source, only afterglow radiating from just below the horizon, the way light lingers after the thing that made it is gone. Still, cinematic, and unhurried.
